“Absolutely fantastic course did the ten week intensive course and Mike Hannah Emily Lisa and Jen were fantastic, it says a lot for the dedication to the students and the standard they teach when the owner who is a professional barber will let students practise on his hair and beard! Worth every penny could not recommend them high enough. Tailor each course to each individual’s ability and speed so you are never held back or pushed to complete too fast. A novice to hairdressing they got me through in record time and I have a job set up already as they take personal interest in not only training you for a new career but actually getting you your first step in the door. “I had a great year at the Mike Taylor education college learning my new trade, all the teachers are supportive and have a very high standard of barbering skills the college has a very friendly and informal atmosphere which is conductive to learn in as there is no unneeded stress or tension. Students of all ages and backgrounds come together and gel due to their mutual passion for barbering and wanting to learn and there is very much a feeling of everyone who is there wants to be there. After being rewarded my NVQ level 2 in barbering i now work full time in a thriving shop which has enabled me to further develop the techniques and skills of the trade learnt from Mike while earning a comfortable living which in the end is the ultimate goal of any qualification. I would recommend Mike Taylor Education to anyone with passion and drive who want to get their foot in the door of the barbering trade and fully submerse themselves in the perfect learning opportunity.

“ I have just completed my first trial day at another barbershop today as a fully fledged barber & the owner was really impressed & over the moon with my competency for a newly qualified barber. I owe it all to the high standard of teaching, support & encouragement from all of the tutors & assessors at Mike Taylor Education. I can’t recommend the academy highly enough. Working in a real life, walk in barbershop for 10 weeks, 5 days a week, meant that my trial today didn’t phase me one bit as the chairs filled up & it showed in the feedback from my new boss today. The 5 hour commute each week from Cheshire was certainly worth it. “After being out of the barber trade for a few years I decided on the Hairdresser to Barber course to refresh my skills. It’s an excellent course and a highly enjoyable 3 days. Hannah and Mike are excellent trainers with a huge breadth of knowledge. Combining theory and practical training in a working Barber shop rather than a classroom is excellent for getting a feel for the barbering environment. ”

“Hannah and Mike have designed a very useful course teaching hairdressers the fundamentals of barbering. Clipper skills are the main focus, and we were introduced to recommended tools and how to use and take care of them. The real barbershop setting for the course was a useful introduction to the environment and set-up of this type of business. Having live models for haircuts rather than mannequin heads (as has happened on other barbering courses) meant that we could be guided through issues like tricky hairlines, bumps/scars, outlining and beard shaping. Overall, Hannah and Mike were friendly and knowledgeable instructors, and the time in Poole was well worth it. I’ve since made a successful move into barbering and am enjoying it a lot. ”
