(How we use student information)

Data protection legislation gives rights to people about whom we hold information, and gives us responsibilities regarding that information. We, Mike Taylor Education, assure you that any information we hold about you will be processed fairly and lawfully. We will be open with you about your personal information.

When we collect information about you:

• We will tell you who we are and what we intend to do with the information

  • We will be fair in the way we collect information about you

  • We will only collect information that is necessary for what we do

  • Where practical, we will collect information directly from you

  • If we collect information about you from someone else, we will, wherever possible, make sure you know that we have done this

    When we use information about you:

    • We will only use your information for legitimate purposes about which you have been informed unless we are required to do otherwise for legal reasons

    When we disclose information about you:

    • We will only disclose your information to third parties for legitimate purposes about which you have been informed unless we are required to do otherwise for legal reasons. This may include, but not limited to:
    • Our prime funding provider will collect enough personal information from us in order to

    provide you with government funded training and education (funded courses only, full

    details are given in the Data Capture Form)

    • Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and Department for Education (DfE)

      (funded courses only, full details are given in the Data Capture Form)

    • VTCT, the awarding body who we register you with to gain a recognised qualification

      Accuracy of your Information:

      • We will ensure that information about you is accurate and up to date when we collect or use it. You can help us to achieve this by keeping us informed of any changes to the information we hold about you

      Security of your Information:

      • We will protect your information against unauthorised use, inadvertent disclosure, dam- age, loss and theft

      Retention of Information about you:

      • We will hold information about you only for as long as is necessary – subject to any statu- tory retention periods

      • We will ensure that the information is disposed of in a secure manner when it is no longer needed

      Requesting access to your personal data:

      Under data protection legislation, you have the right to request access to information about them that we hold. You also have the right to:
      • Object to processing of personal data that is likely to cause, or is causing,
      • damage or distress;

      • Prevent processing for the purpose of direct marketing;
      • Gain intervention into decisions being taken by automated means;

• In certain circumstances, have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked,
• erased or destroyed;
• Claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Data Protection • regulations
