Apprenticeships are arguably the best way to start a career in hairdressing or barbering.
Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to earn a wage whilst working in a salon or barbershop environment, learn from experienced hairdressers and/or barbers, and continually develop your skills and knowledge.
The new apprenticeship standards have been designed by employers to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they require from employees to carry out a specific job role.
Apprenticeships combine working in a salon/barbershop with off-the-job training where you will either come to our training academy or our educators will visit you in the workplace. Apprentices are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and are entitled to apprenticeship national minimum wage.
On completion, apprentices will receive a nationally recognised qualification.

All of our apprentices also have access to our online Education Zone featuring step-by-step videos, online theory presentations, and learning support materials which are available 24/7.
We offer flexible apprenticeship training that can start anytime throughout the year. The training can be carried out either at our training academy in Poole, Dorset or in the workplace or a mixture of both.
Plus we host training events throughout the year that not just the apprentice is invited to, but also other members of the salon/barbershop.

Hair Professional Standards (Hairdressing)
Ideal for complete beginners wanting to start a career in the incredible hairdressing industry
Level: 2
Duration: 24 months
Units include:
Consultation
Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
Cutting hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
Optional Units:
Perming hair
Hair relaxing treatments and techniques
Hair extension services
Advanced and Creative Hair Professionals
Ideal for individuals who have already achieved a level 2 qualification in hairdressing and want to progress creatively in their career
Level: 3
Duration: 18 months
Units include:
Provide client consultation services
Advanced and creative cutting services
Creative fashion styling and finishing services
Provide smoothing and straightening services
Advanced and creative colour services
Use fashion forward trends in hair, creative and precision techniques to create a collection of hairstyle looks
